Learning outcomes1. Use elementary rules of writing, reading and pronunciation in the French language.
2. Use simple phrases and sentences in basic communication in the French language.
3. Understand simple texts while reading (mainly composed from the independent clauses and most frequently used vocabulary).
4. Derive basic information from the listening materials.
5. Recognize and describe specific elements in a language.
Week by week schedule1.
Introductions. General facts about the French language and the language for academic purposes. Introduction to the mandatory literature. The rules of reading. Basic terms regarding the pronunciation and spelling. Types of accents.

2.
Revising the rules of reading, writing and accentuating words. Checking it on a text. A text and a lesson from the mandatory textbook, listening to audio material. Gender, definite and indefinite article, verb etre. Acquiring basic vocabulary, exercises and tasks. Instructions for writing the first homework.
