Course: Seminar in German literature of the 18th century B ECTS credits: 2 Language: German Duration: one semester Status: obligatory elective Course type: 2 hours of seminar Enrolment requirements: course “Fundamentals of Literary Interpretation” Course description: This course covers following topics: 1. poetry of Early Enlightenment (Brockes, Haller etc.); 2. poetry of Klopstock and Goethe; 3.-5. Lessing: Nathan der Weise; 6.-8. Goethe: Die Leiden des jungen Werther; 9.-11. Goethe: Iphigenie auf Tauris; 12.-15. Schiller: Maria Stuart. Learning outcomes: Students will be able to: understand and describe literary texts in the context of their occurrence and impact (social, esthetic, cultural, medial and biographical aspects) and to understand the peculiarities of different literary types and forms. Moreover, students will be able to present their knowledge in the form of written seminars and oral presentations.
