Course description: The course offers students an overview of significant studies, perspectives and concepts about Dutch literature in the periode from 1945 to 1975. Since literature is not a stand-alone phenomenon, in this course students learn to connect and recognize the connections between science of literature, art and other social systems. They are encouraged to read literary and scientific works (books and articles) on a particular period and to actively participate in the discussion or the presentations. 

Learning outcomes: Students will be able to: analyse and recognise literary and artistic climate in the Netherlands and Belgium after 1945, distinguish and compare literary types such as confessional novels, short stories, etc., recognise and differentiate Dutch and Flemish poets of the second half of the 20th century; recognise Dutch and Flemish poetry of the second half of the 20th century; distinguish Dutch and Flemish novelists of the second half of the 20th century; recognize capital works of Dutch and Flemish novelists of the second half of the 20th century; critically analyse literary works.
