Course description: This seminar is intended to introduce students to the stages of the translation process. It covers following topics: translator as an expert (translation competences, translation ethics), receptive stage of the translation process, productive stage of the translation process.

Learning outcomes: Upon completion of the course students are expected to be able to: describe the key translation competences, discuss the translation ethics, identify the text type of the source text, analyse the source text, use various translation tools and technologies, choose and defend their translation strategies and solutions.

Teaching methods: ex-cathedra teaching, pair work, group work
