Course: Syntax of the Contemporary German Language ECTS credits: 4 Language: German Duration: one semester Status: obligatory Course type: 2 hours of lesson Enrolment requirements: course “Morphology of the Contemporary German Language” Course description: The course covers following topics: grammar as a linguistic discipline, syntax; sentence definitions; basic syntactic structures - German and Croatian in contrast; sentence members; Satzrahmen; Ausklammerung; Dependence Grammar; Valency syntactic models - German and Croatian in contrast Learning outcomes: Students will be able to: identify syntactic structures in German language based on traditional grammar and the theory of valency; use syntactically correct utterances; describe valency structures and to recognize their characteristics; explain syntactic structures on examples from contemporary German language.
