Course description: The course covers following topics: Stärken und Schwächen / sentence types; Erziehung und Ausbildung / complex sentences; Forschung und Technik, current topics / adverb, particle, modal word, revision; oral and written analysis of Croatian and German texts; developing awareness of linguistic and cultural differences between Croatian- and German-speaking area; preparing of outlines and summaries of complex texts, discussion on a specific topic, discussion essays on the given and free topic; preparing of presentations and handouts; written translation of different text types into German or Croatian; building glossaries on specific topics; expanding vocabulary on specific topics.

Learning outcomes: Students will be able to: summarize complex texts in German, comprehend, describe and transform complex grammatical structures, use morphologically, syntactically, semantically and stylistic correct oral and written expressions according to Standard German and Croatian, define technical terms in German texts, translate texts which do not require specific knowledge (form German into Croatian and vice versa, orally and in writing), recognize and explain linguistic and cultural differences between Croatian- and German-speaking area.
