Irina Mironova Blažina was born in 1961 in Moscow (Russian Federation). She graduated in 1984. with a degree as professor of Russian Language and Literature and Polish Language and Literature. Since 1993 she has been working at the Chair for Russian Language at the Department for East Slavic Languages and Literatures at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. She holds the teaching grade of Senior language instructor and teaches Russian speaking and translation classes on undergraduate and graduate levels. Her professional interests are related to lexicological and stylistic complexities of contemporary Russian language as well as problems related to translating from Croatian into Russian. She was an associate with the Croatian Science Foundation project Russian-Croatian Phraseological Dictionary and co-authored the Eight-languages encyclopedic dictionary published by the Miroslav Krleža Institute of Lexicography.
