Nancy Duxbury is a Senior Researcher and Co-coordinator of the Cities, Cultures and Architecture Research Group of the Centre for Social Studies, University of Coimbra, Portugal. Her research focuses on cultural mapping methodologies and culture in sustainable development, with a particular focus on the integration of cultural considerations within sustainability planning initiatives. She is also the Principal Investigator of a major research project on creative tourism, «CREATOUR: Creative Tourism Destination Development in Small Cities and Rural Areas» (2016-2019). She is a member of the European Expert Network on Culture and was chair of the Policies working group of the European COST Action on ‘Investigating Cultural Sustainability’ (2011-2015). She is an Adjunct Professor of the School of Communication, Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada, and the School of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Waterloo, Canada. She is internationally published, and has guest edited issues of the International Journal of Cultural Policy; City, Culture and Society; Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais; Hyperrhiz; New Media Cultures; Culture and Local Governance; Society and Leisure; and the Canadian Journal of Communication. She was a co-founder of the Creative City Network of Canada.
