Course: German Language Teaching Methodology ECTS credits: 3 Language: German Duration: one semester Status: obligatory Course type: 2 hours of seminar Course description: The aim of the course is to qualify students to apply the theoretical knowledge of teaching German as a foreign language acquired during the 1st year of their graduate studies. In this course students will plan, analyse, conduct and evaluate lessons in German as a foreign language. Through expert guidance of their mentors and teaching staff they will develop competences and skills needed for a successful conduct of lessons in German as a foreign language of different proficiency levels and age groups as well as in different teaching environments. Learning outcomes: Students will be able to: plan, conduct and critically analyse their own and other students’ lessons in a foreign language classroom, create a teacher portfolio and a lesson plan in a tabular form according to the contemporary theoretical knowledge in the field of glottodidactics, choose and use suitable interactive teaching forms, activities, media and materials as well as to create their own teaching materials which encourage learners’ creativity, critical thinking and tolerance; explain and illustrate intercultural German-Croatian language contacts and cultural transfers as well as apply the intercultural approach in the German as a foreign language; they will have acquired competences and skills for teaching German as a foreign language of different age groups, proficiency levels and in different teaching environments.
