During the course of graduate studies with the emphasis on teaching students are obliged to acquire legally prescribed teaching competences (s. https://www.zakon.hr/z/317/Zakon-o-odgoju-i-obrazovanju-u-osnovnoj-i-srednjoj-%C5%A1koli). Students take one part of the courses at the Centre for Teacher Education (CZON) and one part at their respective departments. 18 ECTS credits, out of a total of 60 ECTS credits allocated to teaching competences, are assigned to mandatory teacher education courses organised by the CZON (s. http://czon.ffzg.hr/redoviti-studij). Remaining ECTS credits are earned within the mandatory teacher education block and practice (organised by the Department of German Language and Literature) as well as through teacher education elective courses of the Department of German Language and Literature (s. http://czon.ffzg.hr/redoviti-studij/izborni-kolegiji-na-odsjecima) or those offered by the CZON (s. http://czon.ffzg.hr/redoviti-studij/izborni-kolegiji). 

Students of the Graduate Programme in Teaching German as a Foreign Language at the Department of German Language and Literature take courses according to the attached table of programme requirements:

Remaining elective courses can be chosen among the elective courses offered by the Centre for Teacher Education (s. http://czon.ffzg.hr/redoviti-studij/izborni-kolegiji). In case of missing ECTS credits, students can choose elective courses offered by the Graduate Programme in Intercultural German Studies as well as open elective courses offered at the Faculty level in the 3rd and 4th semester of their studies.

** Students are not required to take an elective course in their 4th semester unless they need it in order to achieve a minimum of 60 ECTS credits allocated to the Graduate Programme in Teaching German as a Foreign Language (cf. Decision of the Faculty Council from 17th June 2010).
