Experiment: transforming an index into a list of CroALa searches

the index, by which the whole book is governed and turned, like fishes by the tail. — Jonathan Swift, A Tale of a Tub (1704)

Here is a list of words from the index to Latin poems by Marko Marulić. The index was prepared by Arsen Duplančić for the volume Latinski stihovi (Split 2005) of Marulić's Opera omnia. Longer words should produce more sensible and unambiguous search results.

See the lab notes for (somewhat) analyzed searches from the list below.

The list, alphabetically

Think about it for a moment. We find several types of results here:

  • names appearing only in Marulić's poetry
  • names appearing only in Marulić's works
  • names appearing only in poetry
  • names appearing everywhere, rarely
  • names appearing everywhere, often

What does each type imply for the collection? And for authors?
