Marko Tadić, Ph.D., full professor

SONY DSCMarko TADIĆ , linguist, professor at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Linguistics. He is the head of the Chair of Algebraic and Computational Linguistics at the same Department since 2001 and an associated member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2008. He was also a member of the Standing Committee for the Humanities of the European Science Foundation (2009-2012) and a member of the National Council for the Humanities of the National Scientific Council of the Republic of Croatia (2004-2013). He published more than 70 papers and 5 books. He is also one of the authors of the largest Croatian frequency dictionary Hrvatski čestotni rječnik (1999). His interests are in corpus linguistics, computational linguistics, language technologies and research infrastructures in (e-)humanities and social sciences. He is also coauthor of the Croatian Frequency Dictionary (1999). He is also the (co)author of important language resources for the Croatian language such as the Croatian National Corpus (hnk.ffzg.hr), Croatian Morphological Lexicon (hml.ffzg.hr), Croatian Dependency Treebank (hobs.ffzg.hr) and the portal Language Technologies for Croatian Language (jthj.ffzg.hr). He was the leader of Croatian teams participating in several nationally funded projects as well as FP7 RI project CLARIN (www.clarin.eu), FP7 project ACCURAT (www.accurat-project.eu), ICT-PSP projects Let’sMT! (www.letsmt.eu) and CESAR (www.cesar-project.net) and FP7 project XLike (www.xlike.org). He is the president and one of the founders of the Croatian Language Technologies Society.
