Virna Karlić was born in 1985 in Rijeka. She graduated ethnology and South Slavic languages and literatures from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. Since 2008 she has been employed as a teaching assistant and junior researcher at the Department of South Slavic languages and literatures. Apart from her work on the scientific project Literary, Language, and Cultural Aspects of Croatian and Macedonian Relations under supervision by Professor Borislav Pavlovski, she teaches Serbian language courses. In the academic year 2008/09 she enrolled in the Postgraduate Doctoral Studies of Linguistics at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. Since 2013 she has been a collaborator on the project under supervision by Professor Dušan Marinković, the Croatian Literary and Cultural Identity in Transition/Regional Context (aspects of Croatian and Serbian cultural dialogue).
